Après-ski guides, by resort
One guide per mountain, written for the part of the day nobody films: boots off, jacket over a chair, deciding where to eat. Each one covers when the lifts actually stop, where riders land afterwards, what the temperature is doing by then, and which places have been there long enough to be worth the walk.
We check the hours, the closures and the venues against the resorts' own sources, and say so when something could not be confirmed. Where a guide in the wild still lists a bar that closed last year, ours says it closed.
Resort guides
Breckenridge, Colorado
Chairlifts in Breckenridge run 9am to 4pm, and the town is close enough that most riders are holding a drink by 4:15.
Vail, Colorado
Vail's après starts earlier than most people expect.
Copper Mountain, Colorado
Copper is not a town.
Steamboat Springs, Colorado
Steamboat's après happens in two places, three miles apart.
Park City, Utah
Park City is the rare resort where the lift ends on a real street.
Jackson Hole, Wyoming
Jackson Hole has two après scenes and twelve miles between them.
Big Sky, Montana
Big Sky is not one village, it is four: Mountain Village at the base, Meadow Village, Town Center and the Gallatin Canyon, strung along nine miles of highway.
Mammoth Mountain, California
Mammoth's lifts stop at 4pm and the town is right there, not three miles away, not twelve.
Mt. Baker, Washington
There is no village at Mt.
Whistler Blackcomb, British Columbia
Whistler's village was drawn in 1978 by a California landscape architect who deliberately refused the North American grid, and the result is a cobbled pedestrian stroll that physically connects the bases of two separate mountains.
What to wear, and what to buy
The other half of the question. These are not resort-specific: they are the things people ask before they pack, before they buy, and after the first wash.
What to wear après-ski
What to change into after riding, why cotton works afterwards and not during, and what the temperature actually does across ten North American resorts.
Women's après-ski outfits
Four après-ski outfits built around cotton sweatshirts, with the cuts and sizes we actually stock and the temperature each one is for.
Crewneck, hoodie or mock neck
Which sweatshirt cut works after riding, what each one does around the neck and under a shell, and which of them we actually make.
Do cotton sweatshirts shrink?
Cotton shrinks once, mostly in the first cycle, and the dryer causes it, the tumbling rather than the heat. What the textile research actually measured.

A packing list for a three-to-five day snowboard trip, split by what you ride in and what you change into, with the temperatures it is built for.
2026-27 opening dates
Announced 2026-27 opening dates for ten North American resorts, each with the source it came from and whether the resort has committed to it.

What is après-ski?
Après-ski means after skiing, and in French it named a boot before it named a party. What the word covers, where it came from, and what it does not mean.
