Après-ski in Park City, Utah

Park City is the rare resort where the lift ends on a real street. The Town Lift rises from lower Main Street over the roofs of Old Town, which means you can ride in the morning and step off into a historic mining district in the afternoon. Main Street is a National Register district of 47 buildings, every one of them built after the fire of 1898.

When the lifts stop

The resort's hours page was still showing summer scenic rides when we checked, so no winter lift time is confirmed here. The only official winter figure published was ticket windows at 8:30am to 4pm, which is not a lift time. The 2026-27 season was targeted to open November 20, 2026. Check the posted hours.

Where riders land

Three nodes, and the geography is the whole story. Park City Mountain's base sits at the edge of town; Canyons Village is the other side of the resort, linked on-snow by the Quicksilver Gondola; and historic Main Street is a third place entirely, a town grid with 47 contributing historic buildings on thirteen acres, not a resort plaza someone drew.

The Town Lift is what ties it together. It runs from lower Main Street, climbs over the streets and houses of Old Town in about ten minutes, and ends near the bottom of the Bonanza lift. In the other direction it puts you on the pavement outside the bars. High West's saloon sits at the bottom of the Quittin' Time run beside it: the only ski-in, ski-out distillery in the country.

Getting around

Park City Transit is fare-free and has been since 1975. A trolley runs Main Street itself, and a winter-only express route serves the resort.

Main Street has turned over recently, and most published guides have not caught up. Top of Main Brew Pub: Utah's first brewpub, open since the late 1980s, closed in 2026 after 37 years. O'Shucks left Main Street in May 2024 for Park Avenue. Both still appear as Main Street options in listicles that have not been checked.

Getting there and parking

Salt Lake City International is about 35 minutes away, which is the shortest airport run of any market on this list. Parking is the local trick: Main Street meters run $3 an hour in peak season with a three-hour maximum, rising to $5 after 5pm, while the China Bridge garage is $1 an hour with no time limit. For a long après, the garage is the answer.

What the place is about

Park City was a silver town first. The fire of June 19, 1898 burned the business district down, which is why every one of the 47 contributing buildings in the Main Street Historic District postdates it; the district was listed in 1979. The resort opened in 1963, a year after Red Banjo.

Utah's liquor rules shape the evening in ways visitors do not expect: draft beer is capped at 5% ABV, restaurants require food with alcohol while bars and breweries do not, and last call is around 1am. Utah also has the strictest DUI limit in the country at 0.05%, which applies to bikes too. Between that and the free bus, leaving the car is the sensible plan.

One change worth knowing if you are planning around January: the Sundance Film Festival held its final Park City edition in 2026 and moves to Boulder, Colorado in 2027. January 2027 will be the first in over four decades without it.

What to wear after riding

Park City's après is a walking evening on a real street, in and out of rooms that are warm, with a free bus at the end of it. That is a sweatshirt proposition: soft layer on after the shell comes off, jacket over the top for the block between the Town Lift and a bar stool. The milder temperatures here mean the cotton layer does more of the work than it does in Jackson or Steamboat.

Common questions

Can you ski to Main Street in Park City?

Effectively, yes. The Town Lift connects lower Main Street to the mountain, so you can ride down and step off into the historic district. High West's saloon sits at the bottom of the Quittin' Time run beside it.

Where should you park for après-ski on Main Street?

The China Bridge garage at $1 an hour with no time limit, rather than a Main Street meter at $3 an hour with a three-hour cap in peak season.

Do Utah liquor laws affect après-ski in Park City?

Somewhat. Draft beer is capped at 5% ABV, restaurants require food with alcohol while bars do not, and the state DUI limit is 0.05%, the strictest in the country. The free town bus exists for a reason.

Is Sundance still in Park City?

Not after 2026. The festival held its final Park City edition in January 2026 and moves to Boulder, Colorado from 2027.
